General Info:

General info: Magnesium is important for various intracellular physiological functions. This is because it acts as a cofactor and therefore participates in various enzymatic reactions (>300). Imbalances in the magnesium levels needed, can lead to neuromuscular, cardiac and neural disorders. Bone, muscles and non-muscular soft tissues contain 99% of magnesium. Our bodies use 1/3 of skeletal magnesium as reservoir for controling extracellular magnesium levels. Magnesium is required for energy production, oxidative phosphorylation, and glycolysis. It contributes to the structural development of bone and is required for the synthesis of DNA, RNA, and the antioxidant glutathione. Magnesium deficiencies are the second most common deficiency in the west, the first being vitamin D. Common uses for magnesium supplements include:

• Increase athletic performance

• Decrease blood pressure

• Improvement of sleep

• Depression

• Diabetes type 2

• Improving PMS symptoms

• Migraine prevention

Nutritional info: Magnesium is mainly absorbed by the small intestine and a smaller amount by the large intestine. Approximately 30% to 40% of the dietary magnesium consumed is typically absorbed by the body. Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) is around 300-400mg depending on the sex and age. Foods that contain dietary fiber, generally contain magnesium. Common examples rich in this element include almonds, spinach, peanuts, patatos, rice and oatmeal.

Description:

Pharmaceutical Technology: A magnesium containing supplement with a patented SiderAL technology based on a sucrosomial formulation (with phospholipids, emulsifiers, fatty acid esters). A liposome is a spherical vesicle containing at least one lipid bilayer. This structure can be loaded with hydrophobic and/or hydrophilic molecules and deliver them effectively by fusing with other bilayers such as the cell membrane. This method increases the absorption rate while also minimises many adverse effects. In the case of magnesium, bloating, diarrhea, and other intestinal disorders can be avoided since magnesium does not come in direct contact with the intestinal mucosa.

Clinical Advice:

Pharmaceutical Advice: As always, our decisions should be based on evidence. Like all the supplements, UltraMag Oro should not replace an approved medicinal form of magnesium. Also, improving your understanding around magnesium supplements and magnesium physiology through internet reeding, should not replace your GPs expert opinion. Nevertheless, for people who are having a small deficiency, or those who are healthy and are searching to improve their sleep, athletic performance or even to reduce anxiety and especially those who can not tolerate magnesium, UltraMag Oro can help. In my working experience, many patients claim benefits from magnesium suplementation and if that is the case, a sucrosomial technology is a superior form of supplement. Personally, i grade SiderAl series of products, which includes UltraMag Oro, at the top three supplements i know.
